The Series 63 license by itself does not allow examinees to act as securities agents. It is always taken in conjunction with another securities agent license exam like the Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 6 (Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Limited Representative), or other limited representative licenses. It's not something you can just blow off though that's for sure, because there's too much information that you wouldnt know unless you studied it. The Series 66, however, I thought that was a joke. It's basically common sense and I didnt even study. On the other hand, the Series 7 exam is a different story. The main culprits for a failed Series 7 exam are the exam’s increased detail and difficulty. The Series 7 exam is essentially a much more difficult SIE exam. It has 125 questions (plus 10 extra that don’t count toward your score) vs 75 for the SIE exam. My good CSA for the last six years, was told by the firm this year she had to take and pass the Series 7 and 66. Three attempts at the Series 7 passed the third with a 78. On the 66 - got a 73 and 74. I am taking the series 66 exam on Monday and wanted to see if anyone out there has a nice cheat sheet or notes to reference?
